I just finished watching the Sonic fan film by Eddie Lebron of Blue Core Studios. For an 18-minute video, it was incredible! I wont spoil anything (especially that surprise ending) but the scenery's were beautiful and lush. I don't know where Mr. Lebron chose to film South Island, but it was green with a lot of trees. Perfect setting for the first games with that bright look to them.
The addition of humans was a good touch, it made it feel like Sonic really was part of our world and how they set up news clips of Dr. Robotnik (as sort of a backstory to the movie) before he moves his Egg Carriers over the city. Again, I don't know which city was being used. They also specifically mention G.U.N. so as not to mention any specific military force or country associated with them.
Now, early on, we got a taste of one of the first humans we encounter... DOUG WALKER! The Nostalgia Critic himself has a non-speaking cameo and is the first one to see "the blue blur"! The humans were really great actors. Whoever played Robotnik was chosen well, he wasn't fat, he was big with a hint of muscle, so they didn't get a stereotype fat-man like Peter Griffin. His acting was really well done, his intro-speech was very deep in his thoughts, he was more like a guy who wants to preserve peace his way, but not in a way we would all agree with. Sorta like Hearth Ledger's version of the Joker. My only critical respond of the human actors was the G.U.N. soldier being tortured, he wasn't acting well-enough in that scene. The four G.U.N. soldiers, however, were pretty good. I was hoping the female soldier was Topaz to connect with Sonic X. Their acting seemed pretty good. I was pleased with the one scene where the soldier was reloading her weapon... no "endless" magazine LOL! I think my favorite scene was when Sonic was hitting on the female soldier. That was a nice break from the non-stop action.
The explosions and graphics were kind of 2D against the real-life background, but pulling something off like that is hard (to make a Buzzbomber hit a tree and make it realistically explode, Eddie Lebron would have had to put a REAL explosive on the tree to give it a 3D-depth, but something like that would've been not only expensive but dangerous). Other graphics like the gun muzzle flashes could've been better. They could've added a bit of smoke and ejecting brass shells.
Sonic's 3D model was unique. It wasn't a copy-cat from the games, but it didn't deviate either. I liked how he looked with a bit of flowing hair in addition to his spines. I guess my only criticism would be his mouth animation. He could have found a way to move the mouth to either side of Sonic's muzzle instead of being smack-center, but it wasn't that bad. And the lip-sync animations could have been better, but from someone who tried lip-sync animations I know how hard it is.
The story was simple, Robotnik invades South Island and the G.U.N. tries to stop him. That is where we meet "the blue blue" and he doesn't just appear, we see bits of him before we see his face (the Doug Walker scene) so for an 18-minute movie it had a nice build-up. The parts where Sonic was battling the Buzzbombers and Motobugs were really good, intense, and high-speed like a car-chase that puts you on the edge of your seat (I mean, it wasn't as good as the tank scene from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" but it was still good).
It ends with a great wide shot of Green Hill Zone (which was mentioned by name) and we get a sense that this is where the first game begins. I can now picture this movie's Robotnik coming down with a giant wrecking ball later on. As for the last few seconds... dude, that was totally unexpected... and I'm not gunna tell you what it is! You'll have to see it for yourself!
Overall, great movie, it was 18 minutes but it felt longer, and I kinda knew it was gunna end at that point, and it was worth it. The entire movie was worth the two-year wait (and the two-day wait LOL) and I would heavily recommend any Sonic fan to watch it!

I don't get it
Why are people so obsessed and praising "Sonic Frontiers" so much? And what's the deal with this "Final Horizon" thing? Why do people love this game so much? Sorry, but I just don't get it.
What PAW Patrol means to me
Ten years ago, a cartoon premiered on Nickelodeon. August of 2013 gave us the show "PAW Patrol" created by Keith Chapman (famous for creating "Bob the Builder") starring six puppies and their ten-year-old tech-savy boy named Ryder. Where was I at the time? At the time I was unemployed (five months away from employment actually) and my mom was running an in-home daycare. In addition, at the time I also had a 33-month-old nephew named Nick. Before he was born, I was excited but also nervous about becoming an uncle, with my biggest fear being "Will he like me? I know he will love me, but will he like my company?" Despite being nervous around babies, I tried to bond with him so I needed a trigger. That trigger came in August of 2013. That month premiered the show "PAW Patrol" on Nickelodeon. It turns out to have all the traits I love in a show. Unlike shows made for adults and mature audiences, kids shows don't have too much (or in some cases, overdo) emotional drama and tensions between
UPDATE: Why I am NOT excited for Sonic Frontiers
UPDATE: Last night took a load off my shoulders. I had a chat with the guy I mentioned last night, said what was needed, apologies were made, and now I feel comfortable to play Sonic Frontiers without feeling anger or resentment. --- Believe it or not, I am actually NOT... NOT... repeat, NOT excited for "Sonic Frontiers" coming soon!!! Why? My reason is personal and I'm angry about it! Get ready for a rant coming. Before the title was called Frontiers, the previous title for the game was called "Sonic Rangers" and I personally liked that title. Mainly because anybody who knows me knows how very pro-military I am. I instantly thought of the 75th Rangers as a funny inside joke on my part. But that's just me. I have NOTHING against the Frontiers title, I was a little upset they got rid of Rangers, but I just shrugged my shoulders and let it be. There's no shame in my belief saying "My heroes don't wear capes, they wear dog tags!" What does this have to do with Sonic Frontiers? It
Outlived Marcus
To those who know, we lost the wonderful Marcusthehedgehog back in 2020. He was born 19/1/1984 and passed 12/8/2020 (that military dating format) He lived for exactly 17,474 days. My birthday is 29/10/1985, so that means today I've been alive for 17,475 days. I just surpassed Marcus. I miss you so much, buddy.
